PURE DELIGHTSTM

Great Taste  Has Never Been So Healthy!

About Chrissy

I promptly began fasting in order to get rid of all the accumulated toxins. During this time I also decided to become a vegetarian. I would fast for one day; my allergies would subside for that short period of time but then come back. I then fasted for 3 days and the allergies were gone! I then cut out all allergens, particularly wheat and sugar, and stopped eating meat. When I told my Dad, he said, "Great!”  I read and listened to Gary Null. Again my Dad said, “Incredible! Gary Null is great!"

I got Dr. Bragg’s book "The Miracle of Fasting," joined the American Natural Hygiene Society, and worked on my health. I wanted to stop the constant onset of colds and maintain optimal health. I went back and forth between being totally vegetarian and eating some chicken and fish. Finally about 6 years ago, I decided to become a vegan. I fasted again this time for 7 days, rested from the fast, juiced and ate only vegan faire, fasted again for 7 days, and have remained a vegan ever since. I still fast and juice once a week.
I love to cook and find it a challenge to make a meal both nutritious and delicious. I only use organic ingredients in all my foods at home and choose the absolute best, nutritious ingredients to enhance each meal’s synergistic nutrition. My sacred mission is to give the people I love the most nutritious food possible. After all, I want my family and friends to be healthy so we can enjoy each other for many, many years to come. I never sacrifice taste for nutrition as I know you can and must have both in a meal!

My Pure Delightstm came about because I could not find an organic, vegan chocolate treat that was both healthy and delicious. I found many vegan chocolates, but they all contained sugar. I wanted a chocolate that was Fair Trade, organic, sugar-free, vegan and nutritious!  I had to find just the right chocolate, the right mix of healthy ingredients to provide a synergistic treat. With the support and encouragement of my dear friends and boyfriend, I created Chrissy’s Healthy Comfort Foods to provide optimal foods to the public.
Chrissy's also makes desserts for TULA KITCHEN.  Our desserts include  a Raw Chocolate Ice Cream (Yum!), a coconut custard pie with raw coconut sauce, and a chocolate pecan pie. If you're on Long Island visit TULA in Bayshore and enjoy our desserts!

                 Why Vegan?
  B
eing a vegan is a statement to the world. We say, “No!”  to the inhumane treatment of animals, to factory farming, to the environmental burden that meat and fish production have on our dear Earth. As vegans, we are concerned about our earth and the impact that we have on it. Vegans vote with their money by purchasing animal-free products, and together we are guiding the market into healthier foods for our bodies and our planet.

Southern France - an Olive Orchard

I was raised on Long Island by an Italian mom and Polish dad. Both were excellent cooks, and delicious homemade meals, fruits and vegetables were abundant in our house. Dad was into Linus Pauling and Norman Walker, and read every book on nutrition he could find. He grew our vegetables, composted and juiced. We were raised on vitamins and delicious homemade food. My dad also loved to exercise by swimming and walking, thereby teaching us the value of staying active. Mom loved the works of Edgar Cayce, gleaning home remedies from his works. She loved garlic and read much about the benefits of this miraculous herb, so whenever we were sick our first line of defense was mega-doses of vitamin C and garlic. We drank down concoctions and rested until we recovered. The doctor rarely visited our home.

When I reached puberty I rebelled against all my parent’s teachings. I ate junk food and whatever I wanted. However, five summers at an equestrian camp gave me a love for the outdoors and exercise, so I began running at 17 years of age. This pattern exercising and eating junk continued through college, culminating in a year abroad in France, eating everything and anything, and paying the price by being sick the entire year coughing and congested.

When I returned home, I began working on Wall Street. We had a private restaurant at the firm and could order anything desired. I still continued to run, even taking up swimming, yet ate badly. Then one day I felt extremely weak and almost fainted on the subway. This was a hard way to learn that exercise wasn’t enough to stay healthy. I went to a holistic doctor and was diagnosed with hypoglycemia. I was told to steer clear of sugar and eat more protein.

Still the problems continued. When I reached the age of 27 I began to get severe seasonal allergies. My eyes itched, and I sneezed and sneezed. I began to dread the beautiful seasons I so loved. Yet I refused to go the drug and doctor route, thanks to my parents. Never having had allergies before, I figured this must be a toxic overload. By this point I had had enough of sickness. My body needed a cleanse.
